- If it’s not in writing, think again, friend. An unwritten goal is just wishful thinking. Writing = Commitment= Results.
- If it’s not specific, think again. Again. You’ve got to get concrete with your goals, or you’ll never be able to measure your progress, let alone your success.
- Make it exciting and vivid. If you’re not scaring yourself a little, you’re not done yet.
- Make short term goals serve your long term vision. Life arrives in 90 day segments in business. Set up your success steps that way too.
- Be willing to adjust your goals. Along the way, you’ve got to be willing to step up your aim or notch it down a little, depending on how reality arrives. It is better to actually get somewhere rather than nowhere at all.
- Value activity as much as production. Since most of business is subject to unexpected problems, focusing on your activity as well as earnings can help take you through the valleys.
- Review your goals every night. Join the “2% Club” of business leaders who actually do this. It’s a nice club to be in.
- Include your family and friends in your goals. Love can make the grind of business worth it.
