Goodbye 2007. Hello 2008.
I usually love to not work at this time of year. But with several new clients to help, it isn't working out that way. Which also means my "writing time" can suffer a bit. But I wanted to share the thought with you since I do plan to goof off a bit during the next couple of weeks. So I won't be posting as much til after the first of the year.
2007 has been a great year for the small businesses I work with. And 2008 should be even better. So don't let the media get the best of you as you launch into 2008. While the media spins it web of sub prime woes, weak dollar concerns, and risks of recession, millions of small businesses are charging ahead. I'm talking about small companies who are hiring new employees, investing in new technology and capital, while growing at rates of up to 300% in some instances.
There's a ton of good news out there for small business. Small businesses in America provide millions of jobs and can grow at rates far exceeding the Fortune 1000. Yes, there are some fundamental economic concerns on the horizon. But there always has been and will be underlying elements of the economy at work. It's part of the business landscape. Smart business owners and executives prepare their ships accordingly, regardless of what's going on with the economy.
Not only can well-run businesses weather economic storms, many are prepared to thrive when the going gets tough. And in working with each and every client I coach, we're putting in place the fundamentals that enable sustainable growth in profits. No matter what is going on in the economy. Hopefully, you too have planned accordingly.
So focus on positive growth in 2008. Focus on the opportunities to grow profitably. And enjoy the holidays.
As always, warm regards.
