Breakthroughs In Business Through Coaching
Here's the Reader's Digest version. A reluctant business owner, let's call him Mr. B, had built a business over the years that was now pretty much broken in many ways. He was resistant to the idea of hiring a business coach and essentially stuck his head in the sand hoping things would get better.
Coach George is one of the most passionate coaches in our group. And through his willingness to continue giving his time to Mr. B, through his patience and love for helping business owners get sustainable breakthrough results, George ultimately enrolled Mr. B to commit to business coaching for the next twelve months. Coach George had enrolled Mr. B to turn his life and business in a new and positive direction.
I'll break down the process of enrollment in another post. For now, let it suffice to say that the process of enrollment enabled Mr. B to hold the first-ever all company meeting. The purpose of the meeting was for Mr. B to set the stage for a new vision. Mr. B wanted to share his new and inspired vision and mission for the company. And in order to start this process Mr. B had to dig very deep to do what he did in front of all his people.
You see, Mr. B. had to shift his thinking first. With the help of Coach George, Mr. B needed to find a way to be brutally honest with his people in this first meeting. His goal was to shock his people out of complacency and inspire them to new levels of productivity. And in order to move and inspire his people, Mr. B needed to admit openly that the state of the company was entirely his fault. He needed to find the right words and apologize to his people for not leading the way he shave have been leading. He needed to make a powerful statement and engage the emotions of every person in the company. He needed to explain the impact of his past actions. And most of all, he needed to connect emotionally with everyone in his business. Mr. B had become a new leader. And by sharing his message at the all-company meeting he shared the powerful possibility of a new and prosperous future.
Mr. B’s people loved his message. What touched me the most was when George explained how one long-time worker responded to Mr. B after the meeting. He was so touched, moved and inspired by Mr. B's open admission of his mistakes, that he vowed his loyalty as a committed, long-term asset to the company. I think most of us on the call were jerking a few tears at this point.
How will you touch, move and inspire the people in your life today? What kinds of breakthroughs await you? How has coaching made a difference in your life?
As always, with warm regards.
