Annoying Boss Habit Number 10

In wrapping up my list of the ten most annoying boss habits, I'll shift a bit here and write exclusively to the business owners, executives and bosses of the universe who make life miserable at work.

If you want employees to lose momentum fast, by all means take all the credit.  Never say thank you.  Scream and yell at people when you don't get your way.  Be the boss everyone loves to hate.

If you want to lose tons of money be a total jerk at work.  Treat people like dirt.  Probably safe to say your financial trends are flat or worse.

People are the key to profit and cash flow.  If you really want your business or division to grow, treat your people as the number one asset.  Learn how to lead better.  Learn how to coach your people.  Get a coach.  Change.  Stop making work such a lousy place to show up every day.

If you run a business or lead a group of people, you tend to think differently about risk, profit and loss, and getting things done.  You have the unique perspective of the owner or manager.   Robert Kiyosaki refers to business owners as Self Employed "S" and Business Owners "B".  The Employees "E" in a business have their own perspectives.  If you approach finding, recruiting, training, and retaiing with discipline, you have ready, willing and able talent to deploy.  People want recognition.  They want to be told they're doing a good job.  They want their values to align with what's happening at work.  They want you, all business owners, managers, and leaders to "get it."

We can all be more aware of annoying habits that show up at work.  If you show bad habits at work, they're probably worse at home.  In a universal effort to "make work a better place" let's all make more of an effort to better manage our thoughts, emotions and actions at work.  And at home.

As always, warm regards.
