Creating new content for your ezine or website on a regular basis will help you address two key universal marketing objectives.
By putting out a steady stream of helpful information for clients and readers, you not only build credibility while spreading the word about your services and products, you also enjoy the potential benefit of higher rankings with the search engines that are always hungry for fresh content.
Producing content is a great way to promote yourself but there are some days when the ideas just don't seem to come spilling out.
Here are 7 content ideas you can fall back on for those days when you need to publish something and you're stuck for an idea.
1. Offer a Top 7 or 10 list of tips on a certain subject. Writing an article can be time consuming. But you could probably bang out a list of tips in relatively short order that pack just as much value. Then, if there's enough substance , you can expand one of your tips into a 500-600 word article later on.
2. Use your FAQs. Your clients are a great source for content. Those questions they ask over and over are perfect for producing content your readers will find useful. Simply take a question each week (or every other week) and answer it in a short article in your ezine or on your website.
3. Keep an eye and ear out for ideas and insights. Maybe you went to a seminar where you learned something new? Or read an article that provided you with some insights? Share your thoughts with your readers and invite them to send in theirs. You could even use their responses for future content. (Be sure to get their permission first if you plan to publish their name).
4. Use your success stories. I like this one because it gives you a chance to showcase your skills and abilities while at the same time giving your reader some thoughts on how you could help them solve their problem. Client success stories are much more impactful in helping you position yourself as an expert in your readers' minds than you simply stating it.
5. Recommend resources you have found helpful. There are so many resources available today that trying to figure out which ones are best- suited to our needs can be mystifying and frustrating. If you know something works, let your readers know. They trust you to be a reliable source of information. You'll be saving them time and they will appreciate your insights.
6. Stay in touch with your industry. What's going on in your field right now? Is technology producing more efficient ways to get things done? Are there some flashpoint issues that everyone is talking about? Jump in. Offer your thoughts on the topic. Your readers will be interested in how you view things. Keep in mind, YOU are the expert in their eyes.
7. Invite client or reader questions. Answer reader questions one at a time in each issue of your ezine or by adding one to your website every two weeks. Identify the person who asked the question by publishing their name and business and URL.
